Roslyn - Head up over the pass and visit Roslyn, a small town with a famous past. Used as the backdrop of the hit TV show Northern Exposure in the 90's, you can still walk the town and see the buildings the way they were during the series running. While that is fun to see, you don't have to be a Northern Exposure fan to have a good time in Roslyn. Head up there for the day, check out the shops up and down 1st street, have lunch at The Brick; the oldest continuously running saloon in Washington (yes, they are family friendly), and stop by Fused and make your own glass masterpiece! From June 9th - September 8th, the Roslyn Summer Market runs every Sunday from 10-2. Tip -

Olympic Peninsula/Port Townsend - Just a short ferry ride away from the Edmonds ferry terminal, the Olympic Peninsula has so much fun to offer your family. Start your day in Port Townsend , walking the beaches, playing at some of the great playgrounds in the town, and checking out some of the great shops the town has to offer. My kids love the candy and ice cream shops the best, no surprise there. Then, head on over to Fort Worden Historical State Park to learn the history of the area. Or, drive up to the Olympic Game Farm in Sequim and experience wild like up close and personal. Tips -

Friday Harbor is the gateway to the San Juan Islands and the biggest of the towns. Friday Harbor is a great walkable town with several family friendly options. Visit The Whale Museum and learn all about whales and the whales of the Pacific Northwest. If you have a car, head over to Lime Kiln Point State Park, for some hiking, beautiful views, and if you are lucky, you may see some whales passing by. Tips -
