Easter egg hunts and candy go hand in hand—but did you know that some of the most popular sweet treats could actually be hurting our planet? At Woodland Park Zoo’s Bunny Bounce, all of the candy is provided by companies that are committed to sourcing sustainable palm oil.
Palm oil is a type of vegetable oil consumed all over the world, and it’s used in everything from cleaning products to the food we eat—including Easter candy! However, some companies harvest palm oil in a way that destroys tropical rain forest habitats, forcing many already-endangered animals like orangutans, tigers and Asian elephants to fight for survival.
Woodland Park Zoo is on the journey to sourcing and using sustainable palm oil, and we invite you to join us!
