In many ways we live a better life than our parents, our grandparents, and our great grandparents. We can get our food from the store down the street, we can talk to anyone face to face across the world, and we can answer all our children’s questions with just one click of a button. With all these great advances our life has become busier, more chaotic, and more isolating. Many of us find ourselves longing for simple. We want to pick our food from the ground, interact with people face to face, and create fun for our children that doesn’t involve a screen in front of their faces. Remlinger Farms is that simplicity. A place anyone can go, slow down, and just have fun with their family and friends.
Remlinger Farms started many years ago outside of Carnation as a small family farm and fruit stand. Over the years it has grown into what it is today; a 200 acre fun mecca offering a full service restaurant, bakery, ice cream parlor, U-Pick fields, an event venue, fun and educational tours and the Country Fair Fun Park. The Country Fair Fun Park is my personal favorite at Remlinger, the ice cream and bakery being a close second.
The Country Fair Fun Park has over 25 rides and attractions geared especially for children. The rides include a roller coaster, spinning barrels, flying pumpkins, a steam train, and more. Other attractions and entertainment include animal encounters like pony rides and a 4-H animal barnyards, and live entertainment at the farm theater with Cyndi Soup. All of this makes for a fantastic, fun day at the farm!
My family has been going to the Country Fair Fun Park at Remlinger Farms for almost 6 years now and I have learned a few things along the way. Here are my tips for having the best day possible at Remlinger Farms
- Check the weather before you go and dress for it. I have been at Remlinger in 90 degree heat and in the pouring down rain in the fall. Each time we still had a great time because I dressed myself and my kids in the appropriate clothes for the weather. It is mostly outside and there is not much shade or covered areas for sun or rain. Don’t forget the sunscreen and water in the summer!
- Speaking of water and food, no outside food is allowed inside the park, picnic areas, market, or restaurant. There are picnic tables right outside the Market entrance for use if you do bring your own food. Your wristbands allow you reentry privileges throughout the day.
- Have everyone use the bathroom right as you walk into the park. It can be a bit of a walk from the far end of the park back to the bathroom, which in the past is when my kids have needed to go to the bathroom.
- Stroller or no stroller? If your child can handle themselves without the stroller don’t bring the stroller. A big part of the park is gravel, pushing a stroller through gravel can be a real pain! I know from experience. While the park has a lot of fun things to do, it really isn’t so large that your young child will get tired walking around for the day.
- I personally like to do the big rides first and save the train, animals, and hay jump for later in the day. It can get busier as the day goes on. Pro tip – the pony rides are very popular so stop by there first.
Remlinger Farms is open right now from 10:30-4:30 every day. Hours do change during the year so make sure to verify the hours before you go. Prices also vary, ages 1 and under are free and if you think you will want to visit the park many times during the summer they do have season passes that are a great deal. For more information about Remlinger Farms check their website and like their Facebook page for all the latest news from the farm! And, don’t forget to try the ice cream and/or buy one of their famous pies during your visit!
