At-Home Summer Camp

By Melinda Larke - NW Seattle Macaroni Kid July 30, 2020

Summer camp is one of the best parts of summer!  Sometimes, for one reason or another, going to summer camp is just not an option.  That doesn't mean that you can't do summer camp at home!

Pick a week when you have no other plans and follow this plan for a fun summer camp at home.

Monday - Arrival and Camp Set-up

  • Pick a camp name - Every great camp has a great camp name.
  • Have your campers pick their camp names - Let them get as creativity flow.
  • Create some camp shirts with the camp name and each campers camp name.
  • Set up your camp - Set up a tent outside or have a DIY At-Home Campout.
  • Have a camp cookout for dinner - Hot dogs and s'mores are of course the easiest.

Tuesday - Water Day 💦

Wednesday - Sports Day 🏅

  • Pick some backyard sports fun and have your own camp competition.
  • Pick some "classic" outdoor games for some real family fun
  • Or, grab some sports equipment and head to your local park.
  • Set up a movie night under the stars watching your favorite sports movie.  Don't forget the popcorn

Thursday - Explorer Day  🌲

Friday - Art Day 🎨

  • Have the kids do their favorite art medium all about their week at camp.
  • Set up a Virtual Art Show for friends and family
  • Not a big fan of print art?  How about skits or plays about their week at camp?
  • Spend the evening with a Broadway Night in Your Living Room

If you feel comfortable, invite some family and friends over for some or all of the days for an even more memorable summer camp!

Keep finding your family fun -
