What Are You Going To Do With Your Preschoolers This School Year?

By Melinda Larke - NW Seattle Macaroni Kid August 13, 2020

We are getting ready for distance learning and continuing our work at home journeys for the new school year which leads to the question of - "How do I keep my preschooler busy while the older kids do their school work?"  Or, "How can I teach my preschooler from home?"  Or, "How can I keep my preschooler busy while I get some work done?" Well, guess what?  I have the solution to those questions!  Usborne Books & More.  I spoke with Usborne Books & More independent consultant, Tanya Carter, and she led me to some great books that will keep your preschoolers happy, busy and learning this school year.

Of course Usborne Books & More has books and activities for all ages and when you go to the website you can just look at things based on age level to help guide you.  In this article, I am going to be focusing on just the preschooler age groups.

Preschooler- While looking through the preschool section of Usborne Books & More, I saw lots of fun and educational books that would not only help to keep them busy but can also teach them at the same time.  I found sticker books, drawing books, and coloring books which are great for independent learning. They also help to get those fine motor skills developed.     I saw number and alphabet books with pop-ups to both keep the child interested and appeal to the many different learning styles that children have.  These can be read on their own or with a sibling or parent.  I am sure your preschooler will enjoy them either way!

Pre-K - During pre-K, kids are maybe beginning to learn to write numbers and letters, maybe beginning to sound out letters, and for sure asking lots of questions about the world around them.  Usborne Books & More has many books to help with these topics and more.  I saw "Wipe-Clean Alphabet" and "Wipe-Clean Writing Numbers"  to practice their writing skills over and over again.  They can certainly work on this while their siblings or you are working.  It might even make them feel like they too get to go to school and they too get to do school work.  I also saw books that answered questions, let them explore their world, and helped them to understand those big feelings that they have in those tiny little bodies.  The ability to be observant, identify and learn to control their emotions and know how to make choices will be things that will be necessary not only for kindergarten but for the rest of their lives.

Usborne Books & More can help keep your preschooler busy, help them to learn, and give them a little fun for the school year ahead.  Usborne books are high quality, filled with color and colorful illustrations, and can be passed down from child to child.  And, while you are shopping be sure to pick up a few fun and silly books!

Keep finding your family fun -
